Privacy policy
We handle personal information with the same care and discretion we bring to every investigation. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we look after it.
Last updated: 1 October 2026
Who we are
This policy applies to Pixel Investigations ("we", "us", "our") and to our website, pixelinvestigations.com.au. We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Information we collect
We collect personal information when you contact us or engage our services. This may include:
- your name, email address and phone number
- the type of service you are interested in and details of your matter
- any documents, records or other information you choose to provide
- payment and billing details if you engage us
You can make a general enquiry without giving us your full name, but we will usually need to identify you before we can take on a matter.
Information collected in the course of investigations
By the nature of our work, investigations may involve collecting information about other people, for example the subject of a background check or the person behind an online account. We collect this information lawfully, from publicly available sources, from our clients and from other lawful sources, and only for the purpose of the investigation we have been engaged to carry out. It is treated as strictly confidential.
Website analytics and cookies
Our website uses Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed, how long visits last, the general location and type of device, and how visitors arrived. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect this information. It does not tell us who you are, and we do not send your name, email address or the content of your enquiry to Google Analytics.
When an enquiry is sent through our contact form, we record that an enquiry was made and which service was selected, so we can measure how the site is performing.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. More information is available in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
How we use your information
- to respond to your enquiry and assess whether we can help
- to carry out the services you engage us for
- to communicate with you about your matter, and to invoice and administer our services
- to improve our website and services
- to meet our legal and regulatory obligations
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for marketing lists.
Who we share it with
We only disclose personal information where it is needed for the purposes above, where you have agreed, or where we are required or permitted by law, for example to a court, a law enforcement agency or your legal representatives. We use trusted service providers to run our business, including:
- Google Workspace, for email and file storage
- Web3Forms, which delivers website enquiries to our inbox
- Cloudflare, which hosts our website
- Google Analytics, for website statistics
Some of these providers may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. We choose providers that apply strong security and privacy protections.
How we protect your information
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. These include secure, access-controlled systems, encrypted connections and limiting access to the people who need it. We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for our work or as required by law, and then securely delete or de-identify it.
Accessing and correcting your information
You can ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you by emailing us. We will respond within a reasonable time. In some cases, for example where access would prejudice an investigation, legal proceedings or another person's privacy, we may not be able to give access, and we will explain why.
Questions and complaints
If you have a question or concern about how we have handled your personal information, contact us at info@pixelinvestigations.com.au. We will look into it and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be on this page.
